Barrett Lindsay-Steiner
Barrett has directed theater programs for children for 20+ years and has written more than 100 children's musicals (book, music and lyrics). He is currently the drama specialist at Happy Valley Elementary, Country Club Elementary, Seven Hills School, Parkmead (PALS) and St. Isidore’s. He directs the 2nd and 5th Grade plays at Montair School and is also the director of Standing Ovations’ Saturdays children's theater program. He was the writer/director of Reel Blonde/Wigged Out for more than ten years. He wrote /directed /produced the Black and White New Years Events at the DLRCA for 12 years and wrote the book for four Christmas musicals, A Titanic Christmas and Babes In Toyland II, which were performed at Town Hall Theatre In Lafayette, California, and for the Holiday Lightfest Revue and North Pole Mania, (for which he also wrote the music and lyrics) which was performed at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California. He is the author of the book, lyrics and a [portion of the music] for Singing Fools, which played for two successful runs in California. He was commissioned to write an opera for The Contra Costa Children’s Chorus; The Emperor’s New Clothes played for two consecutive years. He has written a full scale-jazz musical, Manhattan!, adapted Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women (for which he wrote music and lyrics and which has been mounted in four different productions (the most recent in Winter 2008) and provided the lyrics for W.C.! the Musical, (Authored by W.C. Field’s grandson). He also wrote the music and lyrics to Grin And Barrett, a musical revue which was performed in
Concord, California, and has written specialty material
Barrett has performed all across Europe with the Jesters Vocal Trio, sung with three symphony orchestras, performed for various companies including Discovery Toys, Monsanto, and Safeway (from Washington D.C. to Cancun) and has opened for Howie Mandel. He has provided services for PeopleSoft, BMW, and Clorox, to name a few. He very much enjoys his work with young people and is thrilled to be sharing his love of musical theatre.
